Who we are

This website, kartobo.com, is run by Kartobo Edutech Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus. Kartobo makes Takodo, a micro:bit engineering kit and lesson programme for schools. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean Kartobo Edutech Ltd. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Questions about this policy or your data: hello@kartobo.com.

What we collect and why

When you ask for a demo or a quote

Our request form asks for your name, school, email address, your role (teacher, head of school or department, parent, other) and whether you want a demo lesson, a quote or both. When you send the form, our website software also records the date and time, your IP address and basic browser and device details, to protect the form against spam and abuse.

We use this information only to reply to your request: to arrange a demo, prepare a quote and follow up on it. The legal basis is your consent, which you give with the tick box on the form. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; this does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

When you email us

If you write to hello@kartobo.com, we keep your email address and the content of your messages so we can answer you and keep a record of the conversation.

When you visit the site

Like every website, our web server keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type, time) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles of visitors. See our Cookie Policy for details on cookies.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • We do not add you to a marketing newsletter unless you ask us to.
  • We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

Children

This website is for teachers, school leaders and parents. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 through it. Photos of pupils using Takodo are published only with written consent from a parent or guardian, which can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us; we will then remove the photo.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and only on our instructions:

  • Hostinger – hosts this website, its database (including form entries) and server logs.
  • Our email provider – hosts the hello@kartobo.com mailbox.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it. If any provider stores data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Demo and quote requests, and related emails: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless your school becomes a customer, in which case we keep what we need for the customer relationship and for legal and accounting records.
  • Server logs: kept by our host for a short period, normally no more than 30 days.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the UK GDPR if you are in the United Kingdom, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To use any of these rights, email hello@kartobo.com. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (dataprotection.gov.cy), to the data protection authority in your own EU country, or, in the UK, to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to form entries is limited to Kartobo staff who need it to answer requests.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
